Ranbir Kapoor is appearing on the list of big filmmakers after his solo hit withAjab Pren Ki Ghajb Kahani and the talented Mani Ratnam is one of them. Mani, who is currently busy wrapping his film Raavana starring Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan is next want to work with Ranbir. Mani’s next film is titled as Azan and it is a pro-Muslim film. However, he is looking forward to Ranbir to play the lead role in it.
Revealing more about the film, a source said, “After the release of Raavana in May next year, Mani will start working for Azan. Unlike the films releasing in Bollywood of late, which focuses on either Jehad or Islam, this is a pro-Muslim film which will portray Muslims in a positive light. The title of the film is the name of the lead character as he will be born during Azan (The Muslim summons to prayer, called by the muezzin from a minaret of a mosque five times a day.)”
No doubt the young Kapoor is making waves. Ranbir with his acting skills managed to impress Mani. “After seeing Ranbir’s progresses an actor, Mani sir is keen to have him in the lead role in the film,” added the source.
Sources also claim that this will be Ranbir’s breakthrough performance as he never played such role before. “Till now, Ranbir has played a young boy, a mature man (Bachna Ae Haseeno), a Sardar (Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year) and now seeing him portray a Muslim character, will be a different ballgame altogether,” said the source.
Meanwhile, Mani is still working on the scripting of the film which he will finish early next year. However the film will go on floors in August next year.
